The World Environment Day ( WED) is an annual activity, which seeks to be the most influential environmental protection day with the most participants around the world.
The World Environment Day was firstly established by the United Nations General Assembly in the year of 1972 to tap thier potential of acquiring the knowledge with relevant fields and to motivate people to have more care about the global environment, such as encouraging people to focus on politics and to have individual activities.
By establing the WED, the UN Environment Programme has made these environmental problems appealing to every individuals. It has let everyone become aware of the responsibility for thier own and it also proves that everyone can be the promotor of making sustainable development for the mankind.
Meanwhile, the World Environment Day is also one of the main means of promoting the the environmental protection awareness for both the individuals and the government.

World Environment Day is hosted every year by a different city with a different theme and is commemorated with an international exposition in the week of 5 June. The UN Environment Programme defines the Green Economy as one that results in improved human well-being and social equity, while significantly alleviating environmental risks and ecological scarcities. For a simple expression, a green economy can be thought of as one which is low carbon, resource efficient and socially inclusive.
What we can say is that a Green Economy is one whose growth in income and employment is driven by public and private investments that reduce carbon emissions and pollution, enhance energy and resource efficiency, and prevent the loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
